The Fable of the Leaning Tree
After some work with Middle Aulan, including projecting the Modern Aulan script backward to account for some sound changes, I present to you an original sample text in Middle Aulan:
For those who don’t have the magical ability to read unknown constructed languages, the translation follows below:
Some brief notes to close out:
1.) Yes I realize I’m using some non-standard romanization in the translation, I’ll try and fix that in the future. Most specifically, ë should be ø, since that more accurately reflects the sound I’m trying to indicate.
2.) Middle Aulan has a letter for “o”, and “ø” which disappeared in later Modern Aulan, as well as some letters that came to refer to different sounds in Modern Aulan. Conversely, it appears as though “y” is a modern letter that was developed as Aulan shifted away from the use of “ø” and “ii”.
